'Gotham' season 3 episode 12 spoilers: Nygma is coming for Penguin; Jerome possibly returning; Bruce and Selina welcome back Selina’s mother

Fans are hyped for what “Gotham” brings when it returns to TV in Jan. 16. There are a lot of hanging plotlines, one of the most interesting being Jerome’s speculated return and how exactly that is going to happen.

FOX has released some of the latest details from this upcoming episode, titled “Ghosts” and fans are mostly excited for Cameron Monaghan’s return and what it could bring for the show. However, the official synopsis offers no guarantee that Jerome will still be alive.

The official synopsis provides that Falcone (John Doman) will be pacing a hit on Gordon (Ben McKenzie) after learning that he shot Mario (James Carpinello). Gordon and Bullock (Donal Logue) will discover a follower of Jerome, who has some plans of bringing him back to life. In the meantime, Penguin will spiral out of control as he approaches the biggest television interview of his mayoral career. As for Bruce (David Mazouz) and Selina (Camren Bicondova), they will be dealing with the return of Selina’s mom to Gotham.

In a Twitter post, a short video is teased and is captioned “Nygma’s coming for you, Penguin.” This, however, is not very clear as to whether Nygma actually plans to take his revenge on him, or if he sooner or later ends up joining forces with him. How things turn out remains to be seen when events unfold in the show.

In another part of Gotham, Bruce and Selina deal with other things to worry about, as both of them deal with Selina’s mother and her return to Gotham. This marks the first time audience will get to see a relative of the soon to be Catwoman. In the winter finale, the figure that was seen following Bruce and Selina in their mission to destroy the Court of Owls was no other than her mother. She even managed to come on time while Alfred was fighting one of them.

“Gotham” will return on Jan. 16 on FOX. In Australia, it will air on SyFy.
