Fans of the well-loved series that features the younger days of everyone’s favourite superhero, Batman, are a little bit sad that they would not see “Gotham” air while it is on its midseason break. Just when the plot got really exciting and just when the show’s villains were about to turn to who they really are in the comics and in the movies, the show takes a break.

While an abrupt resumption is not feasible, Warner Brothers and DC have brought something on social media that might, somehow, ease the pain. This is just in time for Christmas and it has a theme that is quite appropriate for the season of joy and giving, albeit on the dark side. Thus, they are bringing their "Gotham" fans the “12 Days of Villains” just in time for the Holidays.

On Wednesday, December 14, the official Facebook and Twitter accounts of Gotham announced that they will be bringing their followers a little something to enjoy this Christmas. The post says “starting tomorrow, join us for the 12 Days of Villains.” The post was shared with a feature that includes Penguin and his gang armed with machine guns and dressed with suits.

As of that time, nobody knew what that meant. Could it mean a Christmas Special? Can something air online? Even up to know, fans are still waiting in anticipation. “12 Days of Villains” pays obvious homage to 12 Days of Christmas and at that point, fans are already expecting a small gift from “Gotham” for each day since that was announced.

On Wednesday, December 15, a follow up post was posted. There, a picture of Jerome Valeska with his signature disturbing grin apparently hugging Bruce Wayne, who looks distraught, from behind was shared on social media. The picture was captioned “On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me: A Psycho on a Kill Spree.” This might have some implications of what is to come when Gotham returns on January since Jerome has been queerly interesting on the show lately.

On Thursday, the post was captioned with the first few lines of “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” and shows what appears to be Nathan Darrow all suited up as Mr. Freeze. Nothing much has been added but this could mean that viewers will be seeing more of him when “Gotham” season 3 resumes on January 16, 2017. Barbara Kean was featured on December 16. More of “Gotham” villains will appear until Christmas day itself.
