Gotye on Thursday night took home four ARIA Awards, including the Best Male Artist award, which he also won last year. Clearly, the artist that served the world with one of the catchiest break-up songs ever is still Australia's favourite pop icon.

Kimbra, who recorded the hit "Somebody that I Used to Know" with Gotye, won the ARIA for Best Female Artist for the second consecutive year, too.

"What a whirlwind year it's been and what an amazing way to top it off to be acknowledged for this record I started making in Melbourne at 17," Kimbra said in her acceptance speech.

Gotye deliberately looked for the right vocal flavor for 'Somebody.' His choosing Kimbra goes to show that he is not only a brilliant musician, he is also an excellent talent hunter.

Gotye now has a collection of 10 ARIA awards.

"Gosh I've been standing up here a lot," Gotye said when he accepted the ultimate ARIA award, the recognition for best album of the year.

"There are a bunch of fantastic albums, especially by Australian artists, that I fell in love with this year ... so keep listening to records, keep buying records," he continued.

American country-pop superstar Taylor Swift, who also performed at the ARIA event, presented Gotye's award.

"There's nothing like the Australian fans and you guys have been unbelievable to me - and I've also had an amazing time enjoying the Australian music tonight," Swift told the audience.
