The 54th Grammy awards are hip and happening tonight. Hollywood stars and singers were all dressed up and have already hit the red carpet. With the awards night almost at its end, what were the most notable performances of the night?

Each and every performer that took the stage caused a mass of hype among Hollywood celebs and hoards of screaming fans in the audience. So who were the performers of the night and among them who rose above the rest as the best performer of the 54th Grammy Awards of 2012?

Bruce Springsteen raised the roof and not to mention the spirits of the audience with his "We Take Care of Our Own." Even Paul McCartney jumped out of his seat and clapped along to the Springsteen's song. Bruce's vocals were backed up by the orchestra but the best feature of all was the sound of the Max Weinberg drums that thundered throughout the area.

The ever lovable and charming, Bruno Mars, did his own James Brown tribute. The soulful singer managed to swoon and serenade the audience with his smooth voice plus his synchronized body movements with the song, "Runaway Baby".

The "Stronger", Kelly Clarkson, joins up her powerhouse vocals with Jason Aldean but it was nothing compared to Chris Brown's performance that even Nicki Minaj could not contain her fan girl vibes from showing. Nicki Minaj didn't lose any chance off showing off and she too took to the stage and performed.

If Bruce Springsteen raised the roof then his performance was nothing compared to the biggest winners of the night, Foo Fighters who blew the roof off. Dave Grohl shared his thoughts on making music and that perfection plays no part.

"The human element of making music is most important. Singing into a microphone, learning to play your instrument ... it's not about being perfect... It's not about what goes on in a computer, but what goes on in here and what goes in here (points to head and heart)," shares Dave Grohl.

If Chris Brown made it to this year's Grammy Awards, his ex-girlfriend also made it on stage. Rihanna performed with Coldplay's Chris Martin with their acoustic duet of "We Fell in Love in a Hopeless Place."

The night also turned out to be a Beach Boys reunion when Brian Wilson took the stage along with them. Another group performance also includes Foster the People and Maroon 5.

Country crooner, Taylor Swift, also took the stage and performed her song, "Mean." Another highly-anticipated comeback and performance was from the biggest and best winner of the night, Adele. She wowed the audience proving that her throat surgery of last year was no hindrance to her performance tonight.

Though Adele was surely the biggest winner and could be the best performer of the night, it was Jennifer Hudson who made her tribute to Whitney Houston that will definitely win her the title of Best Performer of the 54th Grammy Awards. The ever talented, Jennifer Hudson sang Houston's classic, "I will always love you."
