'Grand Theft Auto 6' update: Map to cover entire US, cop and criminal protagonists available
Rockstar Games is still relishing in the current success of “Grand Theft Auto 5” and cannot be fully bothered with its next chapter. This does not mean, however, that fans of the franchise have not come up with their own theories as to where “Grand Theft Auto 6” will be shot and whom it will star.
As TechRadar has reported, very little is known about what stage “Grand Theft Auto 6” is currently on -- but it is a work in progress. The publication quoted former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies from a statement he made in 2013, which said that there were already ideas being thrown around. “We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do,” he said. “We’ll pick the right ones.”
And while the decision will ultimately be made by Rockstar Games, there are certain theories that have become increasingly popular. One of which is that the next chapter in the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise will span the entire map of the United States. But in order to cut travel time, the game developer will reportedly include a teleportation feature of some sort. However, there have also been statements made to the contrary.
Rockstar Games’ co-founder Dan Houser discussed how the entire feel of “Grand Theft Auto” has become very “American-ish,” but he also went on to explain that this is how it has been intended. Houser explained that the game developer will not limit the franchise to this location and culture. As such, it has also been rumoured that “Grand Theft Auto 6” will make its way to a non-US location, such as London.
There is one other theory that is gaining a lot of traction. With GTA 5 sporting more than one protagonist, it is expected that Rockstar Games will continue the same with “Grand Theft Auto 6.” But to keep things even more interesting, players might get the opportunity to play both a law-enforcing cop and a law-breaking criminal.
Until this point, Rockstar Games has not released any official and concrete announcement regarding “Grand Theft Auto 6.” However, if recent history is to be followed, the game publisher will first confirm the title and then quickly unveil its corresponding trailer.
