Green Tea as Cure for Alzheimer’s and Other Health Benefits
Green tea was found to be another potential cure for Alzheimer’s disease along with red light.
A recent study from the University of Ulm in Germany claimed that green tea extracts and red laser light can actually help in getting rid of Alzheimers plaque, folded peptides that block the transmission of neurons causing memory loss and other symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which is a green tea extract was found to reduce the beta-amyloid cells, which make up the Alzheimer’s plaque, to almost 60 percent.
Getting drugs into the brain was almost impossible in some drugs, but studies and animal experiments showed that the green tea extract penetrate the blood brain barrier. Taking green tea orally along with red laser light exposure can help in the improvement of Alzheimer’s treatment course.
Other Health Benefits of Green Tea
Aside from removing Alzheimer’s plaque, green tea is also known worldwide because of its multiple health benefits. This type of tea is rich in antioxidants which are excellent in fighting free radicals, that can damage DNA and can cause blood clot, atherosclerosis, and cancer.
Green tea’s extracts are also found to be a good detoxifying and cleansing agent. They wash away harmful chemicals and maintain a regular bowel movement. And therefore, can help in maintaining weight as well.
However, previous studies showed that too much green tea intake can increase the risk of having cardiovascular diseases while some studies claimed that green tea can actually help in preventing heart diseases.
Though these studies are contradicting, the main function of green tea’s antioxidants is to dilate the vessels. Green tea improves the flexibility of blood vessels and prevents them from clogging. Therefore, it can really reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems like heart attack.
Aside from that, green tea can also help in preventing tooth decay. It can destroy bacteria that cause dental plaque. The extracts of green tea have antibacterial effects that can prevent infection and even food poisoning.
