Grey’s Anatomy: Chyler Leigh’s Exit and the Top 5 Questions for Season 9
Grey's Anatomy will never be the same without Chyler Leigh as Lexie Grey, also known as "Little Grey" to the many fans of the series. Naturally, many fans waited in agony for Leigh's explanation as to why she left the Seattle Grace cast. After over two weeks of utter silence, Leigh finally issued a statement to E! News but it is hardly consoling.
"Earlier this year, I made the decision that season eight would be my last on Grey's Anatomy," Leigh wrote, without specifying the reason behind her decision.
"I want to take this time to say thank you to the fans... I look forward to my next chapter and I hope you will continue to follow me on my journey," the short statement ended here.
Fans just got more questions than answers due to the vague statement. Even the best scoop hunters have no more answers. Was there a feud between Leigh with any one of the production people or cast? Has Leigh decided to take on a new acting path? The waiting only continues until full light is shed on the matter.
Grey's Anatomy Season 9 is still almost four months away. The avid followers of the medical drama series have not yet fully recovered from Lexie's heartbreaking death in the finale, but there is no great news out there to hang on to while waiting.
Creator Shonda Rhimes is not helping. Instead of appeasing the grieving fans, she went on to say that there may or may not be another death early on next season.
Here are the Top 5 Questions likely asked by Grey's Anatomy fans:
1. Will Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) survive? Fans would rather see him dead than grieving, but then he has a baby who needs him. Come to think of it, Little Grey left Sloan because she was not ready for a baby, a family, and all of those things they talked about moments before her last breath. (So ironic, so painful.)
2. Will Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) survive? Calliophe Torres (Sara Ramírez) will simply lose it if Robbins came back dead. In the final acts of the finale, Torres is seen lying seductively on the bed, expecting Robbins to push the door open.
3. Will Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) replace Robbins as peds head in Seattle Grace? It seemed everything was planned for such a scenario.
4. Will Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) lose his hand? The most celebrated neurosurgeon in the series seemed to have badly damaged his hand in the plane crash. Then again, Dempsey has signed for two more years, so the outlook is probably good.
5. Will Christina Yang (Sandra Oh) change her mind about leaving Seattle? Her husband (Kevin McKidd) finally spared some time to listen to the voice messages. He will save her, and maybe, their marriage, too.
