Grey's Anatomy is set to make a musical episode for its seventh season. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of the medical drama, said that they plan to make a musical show that will see Tony winner Sara Ramirez's Callie and other characters on the show humming.

In an interview with TV Guide, Shonda Rhimes said that she had always wanted to do a musical episode for Grey's Anatomy since it first aired back in 2005. Now that the critically acclaimed series is on its seventh season, Rhimes and her team are up "to try anything and everything" that they want to do in Grey's Anatomy.

"I've wanted to do a musical episode since the first day we started shooting Season 1. Now, we're in that place that we have the space to try it. Also, it's a period of time in which I finally have the right idea and the right talent to make that happen," Rhimes tells TV Guide.

Grey's Anatomy orthopedic surgeon Callie Torres played by Sara Ramirez will be at the fore-front of the musical episode. Ramirez won a Tony for her performance in the Broadway musical Spamalot as the Lady in the Lake back in 2005.

Rhimes said, "It's definitely a Callie-heavy story, but it's a story that we would've told whether there was singing or not. It's always nice to have a Tony winner on deck to do a little singing."

But don't expect the cast of Grey's Anatomy to just burst into a song. Rhimes was clear that she wated to do an episode that was "musical but not a musical." For more of Shonda Rhimes interview with TV Guide, read the full transcript here.
