Grey's Anatomy Season 10: 'Calzona Cheating Doesn't Make Callie a Victim' - Shonda Rhimes
Grey's Anatomy Season 10 will further explore the complex Calzona relationship post-cheating episode. Shonda Rhimes talks about Callie and Arizona in separate interviews, because viewers are reacting from various perspectives. One thing Rhimes does not say, however, is that it's totally over for this couple.
"Arizona made a move and did some things, and certainly that argument revealed a ton about who she is and how she feels about what's going on," Rhimes was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.
Grey's Anatomy Season 9 finale viewers sympathized heavily with Callie when the cheating unfolded. But Rhimes raised another perspective. "Callie isn't a victim; she's never really been a victim, and she's been cheated on before with George. So how she's going to take this and what she's going to do next is going to be the bigger issue," Rhimes added.
On Grey's Anatomy Season 10, will Callie Torres leave the hospital she very eagerly saved? Will she move to a new apartment with her and her baby? Still, many fans remain hopeful it's not yet over for Calzona.
The recent pronouncements by Rhimes indicate the cheating incident will also bring Arizona Robbins closer to herself after the tragedy. Earlier in the season, Arizona allowed herself to sink so deep in misery. She even wound up sitting in the pool of her own pee. Callie stayed with her through the dark ordeal. Now Rhimes said Arizona will rediscover who she is. A period of self-evaluation is also hinted by what Rhimes said: Arizona will get to know "how she feels about what's going on." Apparently, Callie wasn't the only one who "lost" Arizona. The peds surgeon lost herself, too.
The big Calzona fight in the Grey's Anatomy Season 9 finale shows that Arizona is mad. She is more mad than guilty in spite of her dalliance with Lauren.
"Arizona does not forgive Callie for promising her that she would not amputate her leg and then amputating her leg. ... I do think that with any kind of infidelity, on some level -- unless you're dealing with a sociopath -- there's always a reason. There will be an exploration of what that reason was and that will give the Grey's writers fertile ground to play with next season," Jessica Capshaw talked about the character she plays with The Hollywood Reporter.
Rhimes hinted the viewers should be more concerned about Callie's next move on Grey's Anatomy Season 10. What do you think will it be?
