Grey's Anatomy Season 10 could be the final season of some of the cast. Some couples could have their series ending. Who could have their final chapter in the series' tenth year - Calzona, Jolex, Crowen, or MerDer?

Fans can eliminate Japril from the list of couples who are showing their final chapter in Grey's Anatomy Season 10. Matthew's reaction when he sees April losing it because Jackson dives into a life-threatening situation says a lot. It seems clear to the paramedic there is still something big going on between his fiancée and the young hospital owner. Calzona and Crowen seem to be breaking up. Jolex has only just begun. But MerDer seems to have a love story that has reached its apex and about to go humdrum.

If you'd venture out of the characters and look into the actors playing their roles, you'd worry a bit about their contract renewals. Grey's Anatomy contracts of Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd), Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), and Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) are ending in May 2014. The same goes for Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens, Jr (Richard Webber). Right now, fans have no idea whether Webber could survive the apparent electrocution. Writers are probably leading him to the exit door.

For his part, Shepherd has said in an interview, he'd stay as long as the fans want him. He'd probably base his decision on TV ratings of Grey's Anatomy Season 10. The rest of the six remaining original cast might feel differently. After all, 10 years is a long time for TV presence. However, things are looking good for Karev. And Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson) has just been promoted to regular cast. It would be a shame to see Karev go just when he seems to have met "the one."

Looking into Crowen's situation, Cristina could wind up leaving Grey Sloan by the end of Grey's 10. The Chief has to stay, of course. But as much as they love each other, Crowen belong to different worlds and life paths. Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes has hinted she's not giving Yang any maternal desire just to keep Crowen together.

It is not clear the contracts of Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) and Jessica Capshaw (Arizona Robbins) would also be up by Season 10 finale. The past seasons have looked closely into their lives, so maybe the writers aren't done exploring their complex situation just yet.

As for MerDer, the new mom and dad could exit the show by end of Grey's Anatomy Season 10. Pompeo and Dempsey could be off to a new beginning in their careers. They could be ready to pass the torch to the newly promoted series regulars. Their relationship has gone full circle. Fans couldn't get a better closure than what they've already shown.

The fall is still a long way down the road. Until Grey's Season 10 premiere, we'll continue guessing the fate of our favourite Grey's characters.
