'Grey's Anatomy' season 13: Sandra Oh confirms she will not return
Christina Yang, played by Sandra Oh in “Grey’s Anatomy,” has been one of the favourite characters for the show’s fans. There have been rumours in the past that Sandra might return in season 13 of “Grey’s Anatomy,” but fans have yet again been disappointed after Oh confirmed that she has no plans of returning to the show.
Fans have been hoping for Sandra’s return ever since she left “Grey’s Anatomy.” Rumours spread like fire when she posted a picture with her former onscreen husband, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), on her Twitter feed, with the caption that read, “And wait – my husband has a new TV wife?? Xqueez me? I don’t think so, Ha! Owen what r u thinking??”
Fans were quick to imagine that Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen’s marriage might end as Christina will return to season 13. The first episode of season 13 of “Grey’s Anatomy” is titled “Undo,” which further supported this theory of fans.
But Entertainment Tonight caught up with Sandra at the Toronto Film Festival, and she dispensed to any rumours which suggested that she is coming back to the long-running ABC series. “I’ve gotta tell you those rumours, I don’t know who starts them but it really is tough,” she said when asked about her return on the show. “No, I have no plans to return to ‘Grey’s’ anytime soon.”
Sandra left “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2014 after 10 years of playing Christina Yang because she wanted to grow as an actress. This is quite understandable because even after her nominations and awards, the actress still takes acting classes. When she left “Grey’s Anatomy,” she said leaving the show is like having a relationship in a healthy way. She loves it but there has to be growth. She also seems to be getting along with her former cast members very well.
The new season of the ABC medical drama series created by Shonda Rhimes will premiere on Sept. 22 in the US. The show airs on 7 in Australia.
