Grey's Anatomy Season 9 production work is under way. Vacation is over for the well-loved series actors. And now a new doc has been hired, according to the latest scoop.

Warning: This feature may contain Season 8 and Season 9 spoilers

Asked for his scoop last week, TV Line's Michael Ausiello said Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes is hiring additional cast. It can be presumed Rhimes is replacing Kim Raver (Altman) and Chyler Leigh (Little Grey). Ausiello wrote:

"Shonda Rhimes is staffing up in the wake of last season's literal killing spree. Two of the new hires: Dr. Parker, a top-of-his-game physician in his 40s or 50s, and Dr. Mel Barnett, who's slightly younger. Seattle Grace is also looking for two medical professionals, a man and a woman, who are "smart" and "not Hollywood handsome/pretty."

Ausiello's latest scoop is that Gaius Charles has joined the Grey's cast for a "recurring role."

Charles presence in Grey's Season 9 brings to four the number of "Friday Night Lights" characters who have graced Seattle Grace. Previous guests include Kyle Chandler. (Who would forget that explosive episode?). Jesse Plemmons and Zach Gilford have also appeared in the series.

Charles Speculations

Could Charles be one of the new docs, or the recurring patient in Ausiello's scoop? Will he be a romantic triangle to existing couples, i.e. Kepner and Avery?

Will Charles be instrumental to the success of rescue operations for the Seattle Grace doctors who are still in the woods following a fatal plane crash?

Grey's fans can be assured that Charles will give the series a different flavor. He is a fine actor who gave an outstanding portrayal as Brian "Smash" Williams on NBC's "Friday Night" series.

Meredith Grey Propels Ellen Pompeo to Top 10 Highest Paid TV Actresses in 2012

Forbes magazine published on Wednesday its top 20 highest-paid actresses on television. Grey's Anatomy's Meredith Grey made it to the spot no. 8. Ellen Pompeo (Meredith), reportedly makes $9 million per year, earning $275,000 per Grey's episode.

It is presumed Pompeo got a "considerable jump in salary for Seasons 9 and 10," which made her commit to the series for two more years. (Hence, fans can expect two more years of Grey's drama.)
