Grey’s Anatomy Season 9: Another ‘Seattle Grace’ Doc Gets Married, New Doc Checks in from ‘Desperate Housewives’
Grey's Anatomy Season 9 is only a couple of weeks away, and the stars of the hit ABC series seem to be getting busy with their personal lives before demands of filming peaks up. Meanwhile, another new doc has been named, and this time, Shonda Rhimes got someone from "Desperate Housewives."
On July 4, Sara Ramirez married Ryan Debolt in an intimate New York ceremony. On Saturday (September 1), Jesse Williams took his turn and married his girlfriend of five years, Aryn Drake-Lee. Ramirez plays Seattle Grace's Calliophe Torres, while Williams plays the hunky McSteamy Jr, Jackson Avery.
Series creator Shonda Rhimes has hinted in previous interviews that Ramirez' marriage will not affect her role in the series. In fact, Callie will have a big storyline next season. Incidentally, things are still up in mid-air for Callie's lesbian love interest, Arizona Robbins (played by Jessica Capshaw). Rhimes would not divulge or tease anything about Arizona's future after the tragedy that struck in the finale last season.
New docs named
In the wake of cast departures (the latest of which is the expected exit of Eric Dane as Mark Sloan), another new doc has been named to join Grey's Anatomy.
Steven Culp, 54, joins Season 9 as a "top dog doctor." The specifics are scarce as to the depth of Culp's role, so fans will have to wait for more updates. Culp played the role of Rex Van de Kamp on 'Desperate.'
It has been announced earlier that Gaius Charles of "Friday Night Lights" will also appear in Grey's for a "recurring role."
Camilla Luddington of "True Blood" and Tina Majorino of "Veronica Mars" are also expected to render their brilliant acting skills to Grey's Anatomy Season 9.
Grey's Anatomy: What to expect (Teasers and spoilers)
When Grey's Anatomy returns for the Season 9 premiere episode, viewers would be taken to at least a couple of months after the tragedy last season. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) would be "different," Cristina (Sandra Oh) would re-examine her marriage to Owen (Kevin McKidd), and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) would have some adjustments to do.
Fans hang on until Grey's Anatomy Season 9 premieres on September 27.
