Grey's Anatomy Season 9 finale is only a couple of episodes away. Will there be a huge investigative work to affect the last few arcs? Or will a special detective figure in the plane crash settlement case? Why is series creator Shonda Rhimes casting a detective role this late into the season?

"The ABC drama is seeking a big name to come on board later this spring in the role of a detective," reports TVFanatic.com. The operative word here, of course, is "big." Someone at least as big as Constance Zimmer (Dr Cahill), perhaps?

It is worth noting that the Grey's Season 9 finale will not be so catastrophic, according to Rhimes. But who knows what's not downright tragic for this show runner?

"I have a general idea of what the finale is going to be, but it's been evolving as the season progresses," Rhimes earlier told TVLine's Michael Ausiello. "At this moment in time, I would not consider it to be a catastrophe," she said.

Grey's Anatomy Season 9: 'Scrubs' star Sarah Chalke gets personal to help parents

As Dr Elliot Reid on the defunct comedy series Scrubs, Sarah Chalke had spoofed both House, M.D. and Grey's Anatomy with co-star Zach Braff (who played Dr John Dorian). Now Chalke takes on a more serious role as a guest character in an upcoming Grey's episode.

Chalke had earlier met with Rhimes and Grey's EP Betsy Beers in an effort to raise awareness of the Kawasaki Disease, which affected her child, an infant, two years ago. TV Guide reported Chalke's son with fiancé Jamie Afifi was diagnosed with the disease when he was barely 12 months old.

"We had a really hard time getting him diagnosed," Chalke told TV Line. "Talking about it and hearing other parents speak, that's sort of what galvanized me to make a difference, to do this now. Obviously in this business, you do whatever you can to protect your child's privacy, but there's a time when the scale tips and you figure out a way to talk about it," she added.

Chalke had worries about being unable to stop crying when her character is supposed to stop crying. She said the Grey's guesting could be the most challenging role, but she also said it was a good experience.
