Grey's Anatomy Season 9 is not taking a break from heavy emotional drama anytime soon. The ABC series returned last week with a time jump from the Season 8 finale. But this week's episode, "Remember the Time," will use flashbacks to tell the story of the immediate aftermath of last season's plane crash.

How long did it take for the rescue team to arrive? How did the doctors find a way to recovery, and who has yet to recover after the tragedy?

The Rescue and The Promise

The launch of rescue efforts are in Owen's hands. In a previous interview, Kevin McKidd said if things were up to him, he would have his character rapel from a chopper for Cristina (Sandra Oh). Fans will see how much of McKidd's hope would come true in the second episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 9.

In the preview clip on YouTube, Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) is clearly heard saying, "Promise me you won't let them take my leg." Callie (Sara Ramirez) promised just that. Those who have seen the season premiere know how things turned out.

The Fleeing Doctor

Cristina will be in deep shock. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will be the center of strength next episode. This, despite the death of Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh). In the preview clip below, Meredith is heard screaming at the beginning, "Where's my sister?"

Worth watching is the intertwined journey that Cristina and Meredith will go through. Cristina will "flee" from Seattle Grace next episode. But it already became clear in the premiere that she is unhappy at her new hospital. However, she could not bring herself to board a plane.

As for Meredith, she has become Seattle Grace's new "Nazi," but her body could not take being on the plane. These characters will evolve in ways that will inspire others to confront their fears.

Ready the Kleenex boxes. Tears will flow again on Thursday when Grey's Anatomy Season 9 Episode 2 "Remember the Time" airs on ABC.
