Here are some speculations on three of Grey's best couples: MerDer, Crowen, and Calzona. What could possibly await these couples in the second half of Grey's Anatomy Season 9?

MerDer: Meredith and Derek

Meredith maintains a no-thrill attitude towards her pregnancy. But she can't stop others from being excited. Fans want her to give birth and enjoy biological mommy-hood. Considering Meredith has just lost her sister, maybe she won't have another big tragedy soon. She might even name her baby "Lexie Grey Shepherd." As for Derek, he is likely to get his surgeon's hand back in action. He belongs to the O.R.

Crowen: Cristina and Owen

Crowen's long-time-coming kiss from Episode 9 has been well-received. But the lawsuit makes their relationship complicated. That, and the fact that Owen seems to be aching to have kids. Will Cristina tell Owen to screw the lawsuit and forget the divorce? Or will Owen insist that they want different things in their lives, anyway?

Calzona: Callie and Arizona

Shonda Rhimes has earlier said Arizona's leg was not amputated on a whim. The writers will show that the Calzona couple can still get the sexy on despite the prosthetic leg. Arizona has been adjusting well to her new life. After last week's squabble over high heels, it may have become clear to her that Callie needs her to come around now.

Other couples: Richard, Jackson, Bailey, Karev

A huge dark cloud is hovering over the most senior Grey's couple, Richard and Adele. The two have been effectively separated by Adele's Alzheimer's disease. But now the Grim Reaper seems to be upon her. Meanwhile, Jackson and April are in a path to dating others. Perhaps it's necessary, seeing that April has a lot of growing up to do when it comes to sex and romance.

Bailey and Ben are fine, so says Rhimes. There's no need to worry about this couple. But the same can't be said for Karev, who's been in a painful series of failed relationships. Now that he is being paired to whiny intern Jo, will his fate change for the better?

Grey's Anatomy Season 9 Episode 10: 'Things We Said Today'

The official synopsis of Grey's Anatomy's Jan. 10 episode goes:

"Bailey puts her wedding day on hold and continues her efforts to save Adele's life, Cristina and Owen remain undecided about their pending divorce, while Arizona and Callie try to get their spark back. Meanwhile, the hospital becomes inundated with a group of bikers after a horrible accident."
