Grey's Anatomy Season 9 will air Thursday in U.S. television its third episode, "Love the one you're with." What does the title mean for the characters, particularly Cristina Yang, who is not at Seattle Grace?

So, who are the characters with as of the season premiere?

Alex Karev - In a Grey's preview clip, Alex tells his new intern, Jo, that he digs girls with a guy's name. Callie tells him to knock it off. He protests, but he later gets burned. Could Jo be the "love story" that has been in the spoilers on Karev's story line?

Jackson Avery - Jackson fails to meet Kepner on the night of Sloan's death. Did she at least wait for him a bit? No one knows yet. Jackson does not seem to be actively dating now. Karev makes the mistake of assuming that his last hook-up was the late Little Grey. By the third episode, however, Kepner will be back at Seattle Grace. Will they now love the one they're with?

April Kepner - Kepner comes back to a cold-to-lukewarm welcome of the attending doctors. But Jackson's abs more than made up for the disappointing reactions from people. She stutters when Jackson tells her he's glad she's back. But there's more to Jackson's words. He appears to be a bit pissed off. It's probably because she didn't wait for him as he asked. Arizona Robbins - Arizona is still living with Callie. But they're not okay. Crying in on-call rooms seems to be Callie's thing now since Sloan went into coma, and later died. But when everyone's looking, Callie wears her tough cookie persona. At the end of Season 9 premiere, Callie tells Arizona to "snap out of it." Arizona then lashes at Callie for being responsible for her amputated leg. How will Arizona come to realize that Callie has stayed strong for her through her darkest moments?

Cristina Yang - Cristina has left Seattle Grace. She's the only one who has decided to "flee," so far. A doctor seems to be flirting at her, but will she even notice?

Here's a one-liner to look forward to on "Love the one you're with:" Let me see the great Dr. Yang turn her frown upside down.
