Grigor Dimitrov Turns To Novak Djokovic For Love Advice; Dimitrov and Sharapova At The 2014 China Open
Grigor Dimitrov had a training session with top-ranked athlete Novak Djokovic recently. Dimitrov and Djokovic reportedly just didn't exchange shots and volleys, but the Serbian athlete also gave Dimitrov some love advice.
Dimitrov was invited by Djokovic for a practice session on Sept. 19. Djokovic even shared a snap of their practice on his official Facebook page. According to Asian Age, an English language Indian daily newspaper, Djokovic offered some relationship advice to Dimitrov. However, the news outlet did not elaborate on the advice that Djokovic gave Dimitrov.
Dimitrov's relationship with fellow tennis star Maria Sharapova has been blasted with breakup rumours in recent months. They have reportedly unfollowed each other on Twitter. Dimitrov and Sharapova have also not been photographed together lately.
Just because Dimitrov and Sharapova have not been seen going out together, does it mean that their relationship is going through some rough patches? The pair have been busy with their respective tennis careers.
Following his defeat to Gael Monfils in Round 16 of the 2014 US Open, Dimitrov took a break from tennis. Currently in the 10th place of Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Dimitrov is competing in the 2014 China Open. He said via the tournament's website that his main goal is to make it to the ATP World Tour Finals in London. Dimitrov said that he needs to play the best tennis from now on. "That's the most important thing, I don't want to stop here. Of course, I want to get to London," he further added. Dimitrov will face Fernando Verdasco in the first round.
Sharapova, on the other hand, is also playing at the 2014 China Open. She has advanced into the second round after beating Estonian Kaia Kanepi in two straight sets. Sharapova admitted that the match was tough for her. She said in an interview with ABC News that Kanepi was a difficult opponent, but was pretty pleased with her performance. Sharapova overcame six double-faults. She thought that she served well against Kanepi. "If I make more errors, I feel more confident knowing that I'm going for it rather than just making my opponent hit the ball," she said via ABC News. Sharapova will face 34th-ranked Elina Svitolina in the second round.
