Stardeals, a shopping website that offers a daily deal on the best local goods, services and cultural events as part of the global Groupon Inc. network, this week began offering deals for the first time in Perth.

Initial deals offered include a three-course African-style lunch for 2 at the stylish Hippo Creek restaurant in Subiaco for just $59 ($156 value) and three kilos of famous Exmouth Tiger Prawns from leading seafood retailer, MG Kallis Melville, for just $49 ($99 value).

Stardeals began operating in Australia on February 14, first offering deals in Sydney, shortly followed by Melbourne and Brisbane. The company also offers deals on a national basis.

“Perth is a very vibrant cosmopolitan city with a lot of great businesses that we’re keen to partner with in order to offer consumers in Perth the very best deals,” said Stardeals managing director, Patrick Schmidt.

Using the principles of collective buying, Stardeals negotiates unprecedented discounts with only the highest quality businesses. Stardeals subscribers get daily emails alerting them to the deals.

The deals are activated only when a minimum number of people agree to buy, encouraging subscribers to share the promotion with family and friends.

This innovative approach to e-commerce has brought millions of dollars in new revenue to local businesses while saving more than US$1.6 billion for subscribers worldwide.
