The MW Congress brought in the GSMA Global Mobile Award, now on its 18th year in the business of recognizing the latest and best innovations in mobile hardware, software, apps, and services.

GSMA CEO John Hoffman said to RadioAndMusic, "Through these awards, we are proud to shine the light on mobile industry's many innovators and leaders, from all corders of the world. This year's new categories reflected the industry's reach into many new sectors and we received more than 600 high-quality entries from across the mobile ecosystem."

Samsung

Samsung was one of the biggest winners, when it garnered three awards. Its Samsung Galaxy Camera was awarded as the Best Mobile Enabled Consumer Electronics Device, which allows for 3G/4G and Wi-Fi connectivity and is backed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Galaxy S 3 also received the award for Best Smartphone, not only for its specs and features, but also for the groundbreaking record for sales that it has achieved-which is a sale of 40 million units since May.

Wrapping up its awards, Mobile News reports that Samsung also bagged the award for "Device Manufacturer of the Year," which it won for the second time in a row.

Nokia Asha 305

The Nokia Asha 305 was one of the breakthroughs of the MW Congress, enough to earn a win for the "Best Feature Phone or Entry Level Phone."

Nokia Asha 305 went face-to-face with the Samsung C3312 Duos and two other Nokia devices. Aside from the Nokia Asha 305, Nokia was also nominated at the GSMA for its Nokia 103 and Nokia ASha 302.

"We're proud that the Nokia Asha 305 has been recognized by one of the world's leading voices for the mobile industry," said Jussi Nevanlinna, vice president of marketing for Mobile Phones, Nokia. "The entire Asha Touch family has gone from strength to strength, recently achieving smartphone status from Gfk and achieving no. 1 status as the best-selling smartphone in its price point across 25 countries."

Google Nexus 7

Not to be forgotten in the arena of the tech industry is Google Nexus 7, which was aptly rewarded with the Best Mobile Tablet award.

ThinkDigit reports that this can be attributed to the Nexus 7's unbeatable Android experience, superb craftsmanship and design, and a price that gives you more for your money.
