‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Director Interviews Vin Diesel, Actor Reveals Groot Is ‘Intelligent’
A new video has emerged online that shows an interview conducted by James Gunn, the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The director interviewed the actor Vin Diesel, who played the role of a character called Groot in the 2014 movie.
Vin Diesel posted a video of his interview conducted by James Gunn on his official Facebook page. The first question James Gunn asked Vin Diesel was to name 64 things that the actor liked about the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy." The actor quickly came up with a few words of praise for the director.
Although the question was meant to be a joke, James Gunn was happy to see Vin Diesel name more than 10 things about the director. He said that Vin Diesel may be the first person to name all 64 good things.
James Gunn then went on to share something about the movie that he said was very frustrating for him. According to the director, the team put in a lot of effort to create the character Groot. One of the temporary voices for the character was by the director. James Gunn said that the character was only complete when Vin Diesel came along and gave his voice to complete the character.
Vin Diesel appreciated the character Groot and said that playing the character was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that an actor gets. James Gunn asked the actor whether he felt a connection to the character while recording the voice. The actor said that he saw the director as someone who allowed him to explore all the "rich nuances" of the character.
Vin Diesel said that many of the viewers may not realise that the character Groot is actually a very intelligent being. "Guardians of the Galaxy" may show the character to be repetitious, but the actor said that the one dialogue "I am Groot" could mean a number of things, and the viewers only get to understand the meaning based on the interpretation of another character called Rocket in the movie.
James Gunn's next big project will be "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The movie is slated to be released in 2017. The director, who is also the writer, has so far not revealed which of the characters will be returning in the movie.
