‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Director Talks About New Characters And 3D Plans
The director of "Guardians of Galaxy 2," James Gunn, teased some spoilers from his upcoming movie. He spoke about the upcoming movie with the characteristic humour that many fans came to enjoy in the first movie from the franchise. The recently released movie went on to become one of the biggest box office hits of 2014. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]
All the five superheroes will be featuring in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," confirmed the director at Variety's Entertainment and Technology Summit. Movie buffs who have seen the first movie will remember that the character Groot shielded the team toward the end by putting his life in danger. A dancing baby Groot was later seen in a pot.
The director also joked about how all the characters will die within the first 10 minutes of the movie in the most brutal fashion. On a more serious note, however, he said that the superhero team will see additional members in the upcoming movie. Some of the characters who have been part of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" comic book universe include Adam Warlock, Thor's sister - Angela, Captain Universe, Captain Marvel, Deathcry, Rocket Raccoon's nephew Duo Raccoon and Ironman.
Speaking about crossover with some of the movies with Disney, the director reportedly said that it was unlikely. He said the movie franchise like "Star Wars," for example, was based on a time period that was a long time ago, which means that his movies will require some time travel in order for a crossover to happen.
The director said that he envisioned the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise more as a universe rather than a single story. He also said that the upcoming movie will uncover some of the secrets that were not revealed in the first movie. The most notable question that fans would be interested to know would be the identity of Peter Quill's father.
James Gunn also spoke about his belief in 3D being a big factor in the success of the previous movie in the international market. He reportedly pointed out that although 3D movies are not a big phenomenon in the U.S., they were big in Europe. Given his passion for this technology, fans of the franchise can look forward to "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" to also be available in 3D.
