‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ James Gunn Apologises To Nova Fan
Nova, a popular character from the comic books, will not be featuring in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The director has revealed that the sequel will build on the story of Peter Quill and may not have room for another character from Earth.
James Gunn recently had a conversation with some of the fans on his Facebook account. One of the questions a fan raised was about the comic book character Nova and why the character was not featured in "Guardians of the Galaxy."
The director replied saying that he did not want Nova to feature in "Guardians of Galaxy 2" as he wanted to focus more on Peter Quill. James Gunn also said that there were only a handful of Nova fans and he wanted to cater to a larger movie-going audience.
One of the fans asked James Gunn if he would be interested in making an Annihilus or a Nova solo movie. The director shared that the rights to make Annihilus was with someone else and he was not averse to adding Nova in one of his future movies and that the character may not help the overall storyline in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
The real name of Nova in the comics is Richard Rider and he is from New York. He later joins the Nova Corps of the planet Xandar. He assumes the name "Nova" and goes on to become the leader of the Nova Corps.
Some of the fans were hopeful that Nova would feature in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" after they saw that the Nova Corps was a major part in the storyline in the movie. The character also had the potential to cross over to the "Avengers" franchise because one of the comic book stories shows that he was recruited by Nick Fury.
However, James Gunn has stated that the only connection his movie has with the rest of the Marvel universe is Thanos, a character that may not feature in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The director hopes to just focus on making a good movie that the fans would want to see.
