No Doubt singer and 'The Voice' coach Gwen Stefani has filed for divorce from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage. Stefani reportedly filed the divorce petition at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday.

In a joint statement sent by the couple on Monday to US Weekly, the two said that the decision is mutual. "We will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," said Stefani and Rossdale. The couple has also asked the media to respect their privacy.

Gwen and Gavin married in 2002 and have three little boys. Kingston is nine years old, Zuma is six while Apollo is just 17 months. TMZ , which first broke the news, reports Stefani filed the documents citing ”irreconcilable differences.” Rossdale, 49, and Stefani, 45, are represented by Hollywood divorce lawyers Laura Wasser and Scott Weston, respectively.

In an article by Rolling Stone , one of the possible reasons for the fallout is Stefani's rough pregnancy experience with their youngest son, the birth of whom reportedly spurred an epiphany that the "Hollaback Girl" singer should tour and record again. Stefani had her first solo show in eight years in February 2015 and has not recorded an album for a long time. One of her most recent songs, "Shine," was recorded with Pharrell Williams in 2014 for the release of the movie "Paddington." Meanwhile, Rossdale's band released its sixth album "Man on the Run" in 2014.

News of the divorce came as a surprise to many fans, especially as Stefani was just interviewed on Cosmopolitan in March 2015, where she had positive words about their marriage despite having gone through rough times.

"We go through so much together -- it's a miracle that we could stay together this long... I think that's what keeps relationships going, when both people can be themselves and have their own individuality," she told Cosmopolitan. Whether that was the hint of an impending split, only one can speculate.
