Gwyneth Paltrow's 2010 CMA performance earns actress applause from audience, critics
Gwyneth Paltrow made her singing debut at the 2010 Country Music Awards, last Wednesday night in a bid to win critics and the country music industry for her upcoming film Country Strong set to hit theatres this December.
Paltrow performed the theme song from Country Song with Vince Gill, for which she received a standing ovation from the audience at this year's Country Music Awards. Her performance at the CMA earned her not only applause from 2010 CMA's attendees, but also accolades from music critics.
Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly that 2010 CMA producers played up the curiosity factor on Gwyneth Paltrow's performance: Will she be cut or will she pass for her performance? In the end, Tucker opined that Paltrow sang Country Song theme song in "an expressive surging tone."
"Paltrow's performances on the Country Strong soundtrack album are solid ones. She delivers the songs with a conversational directness in a tuneful voice," wrote Tucker.
The video of Gwyneth Paltrow's 2010 CMA performance is fast becoming a sensation on YouTube. It is the fourth Most Discussed video today, and rising on the Most Viewed in music category in several countries such as Canada (52nd ), New Zealand (45th), Australia (42nd) and South Korea (57th).
