Canberra's Nathan Haas claimed the Lakes Oil Tour of Gippsland today defeating West Australian teenager Bradley Linfield (Plan B) by 18 seconds, with Queenslander Michael Cupitt (Budget Forklifts) a further 20 seconds back in third place.

Haas, 22, finished 25th place in the ninth and final stage of the Tour, a 44km waterfront criterium in Paynesville which was won by Genesys Wealth team-mate Steele Von Hoff of Victoria. It was also von Hoff's fifth stage victory in the 520km event.

Haas was ecstatic over his victory in the the fourth race in the prestigious Cycling Australia 2011 National Road Series.

"So many of the guys who have done well in previous Gippsland tours are now riding with international trade teams. I would love to join them," the twenty-two-year-old said.

Haas also paid tribute to his powerful Genesys Wealth contingent which dominated the event. Haas also claimed the Hotondo Homes king of the mountains championship, with Von Hoff collecting the CreditCollect criterium title and Victoria's Patrick Shaw, last year's Gippsland tour winner, taking out the SP AusNet sprint category.

New Zealander Alexander Ray (Pure Black) broke the Genesys stronghold on the category jerseys with victory in the Crossco most aggressive rider award.

Riders and teams were battling for valuable points towards the National Road Series standings, with Genesys Wealth dominating the NRS to date.

Heading into the Lakes Oil Tour of Gippsland, they lead the team standings, with Hass on top in the individual standings on 235pts ahead of Shaw (160pts) and Hoff (85pts). The standings following the Tour will be updated shortly.
