Another female witness said in a statement as reported by KSPR.com , "Hailey tried to walk away from the vehicle, but Wood opened the door of his truck and said "Hey, come here for a minute," extending his hand to her, and motioning for him to come to him."

The witness further said, "When the girl took a step closer to the truck, Wood grabbed her and "threw her into the truck 'like a rag doll."

Hailey's murder has alarmed the parents of Springfield and the gory incident has sent a wave of shock in the society. The parents are forced to reconsider the amount of freedom they give to their kids.

"We let them play in the front, build a snowman, that kind of thing, and I think going forward we would probably reconsider that, being in the front even if it's three of them," said one of the parents to KSPR.com.
