Hailey Owens Shocking Murder: Accused Murderer Craig Michael Family Releases Support Statement for Hailey's Parents
The family of the accused murderer Craig Michael Wood in 10-year-old Hailey Owens murder case released a statement in support of community.
According to Ky3.com, Jim and Genie Wood released this statement through a family spokesman, "They join the rest of the community in praying as their hearts pour out to the Owens family."
Apart from being part of a school system for more than a decade, Craig Wood was also band member of Ozarks bluegrass band called Uncle Fudd. With their deepest regard for the family, the group member of Uncle Fudd also expressed their views in a statement saying, "Uncle Fudd would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Hailey Owens. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this devastating time."
Hailey Owen was abducted and murdered and Feb. 18 while walking home from school. The accused reportedly pulled his vehicle and asked Hailey for directions and when Hailey stepped closer to tell him the direction, Craig forcefully pushed her inside the truck.
According to Hollywoodlife.com report, "One of the neighbors, Carlos Edwards, told a local news reporter that he and his wife witnessed the pick-up truck drive up and down the block multiple times before finally approaching Hailey."
Another female witness said in a statement as reported by KSPR.com , "Hailey tried to walk away from the vehicle, but Wood opened the door of his truck and said "Hey, come here for a minute," extending his hand to her, and motioning for him to come to him."
The witness further said, "When the girl took a step closer to the truck, Wood grabbed her and "threw her into the truck 'like a rag doll."
Hailey's murder has alarmed the parents of Springfield and the gory incident has sent a wave of shock in the society. The parents are forced to reconsider the amount of freedom they give to their kids.
"We let them play in the front, build a snowman, that kind of thing, and I think going forward we would probably reconsider that, being in the front even if it's three of them," said one of the parents to KSPR.com.
