Haiyan Update: Jessica Alba, Barbara Streisand, Jeff Probst Sends Donations To The Philippines
The cry for help is deafening and we just can't ignore what's happening in the Philippines when more and more people are in need of decent food, clean water and medical assistance. As a result, more celebrities are sending their support for the victims of Haiyan and its unbelievable damage to the Central region of the Philippine archipelago.
As of today there are 800,000 people who lost their homes and 2 million people are dying of hunger and thirst if aid does not reach them on time. To inspire more people to help and pledge relief for typhoon survivors, Jessica Alba and the Honest Company made a generous donation to the victims through Operation USA, confirmed exclusively by E! News.
Alba and her company delivered $51, 445 worth of products in Los Angeles and its employees are also donating an amount where the company is going to match with their products.
Barbara Streisand and her company, The Streisand Foundation, is pledging a sizable monetary donation for the Philippines and to help aid the survivors of the typhoon. For each year, the foundation contributes to a wide variety of causes and reaching out to the Philippines in this time of dire need is what the country needs.
Survivor host Jeff Probst describes Haiyan's destruction as: "Seeing this destruction is truly heartbreaking." Probst is very much familiar with the Philippines, and this tragedy hit him hard.
"Over the last two years I've spent nearly eight months in the Philippines," Probst tells Entertainment Weekly. "Some of the nicest, hardest working and most humble people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting."
Now that the country needs his help, Probst together with CBS are helping together to send aid in the Philippines. "CBS is being very active in helping raise awareness and support," says Probst. "Survivor is also being very active in doing our own internal fundraising and I would imagine we will somehow involve the live reunion show as well."
An active member of Operation USA, Rosario Dawson is one of the many celebrities who supports the relief efforts of the organization. She is actively assisting the fundraising to help raise money for rehabilitation and support for the typhoon victims.
Operation USA together with United Airlines are drawing a lot of pledges from their Crowdrise fundraising and that includes Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann. One of the many privately funded organizations that has been working in the Philippines, Operation USA is working continuously to provide water purification supplies and sending electric generators and other emergency relief materials.
