"Hannibal" Season 2 will premiere on NBC on Feb. 28, Friday, at 10PM ET. Only minor spoilers have been out, but the poster featuring a disturbing photo of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) is enough to build the suspense. The delectably twisted show is set to replace "Dracula," which has yet to receive word on a second season.

"Bryan (Fuller) and his team are running on all creative cylinders once again and have delivered episodes full of intrigue, scares and surprises," NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke says in a statement. She adds, "The show continues to astound us with its incredible aesthetic beauty and its amazingly talented cast."

Dracula is currently on hiatus, but the show returns to NBC on Jan. 3. Zap2It predicts Dracula is "more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2014." The series drew highly positive ratings on its premiere, but viewership took a dive in only two weeks.

In Hannibal Season 1 finale, former special agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) winds up in a mental asylum, specifically the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), meanwhile, is not about to stop serving himself some gory meals. Spoilers are scarce on how Season 2 develops on NBC, but fans are hoping for an even better chapter in 2014.

Hannibal Season 2 will run in 13 episodes. Gillian Anderson ("X-Files") is expected to reprise her role as Lecter's shrink.

Hannibal is based on Thomas Harris' popular Hannibal Lecter novels, particularly "Red Dragon" (1981), which was the first to tell the story of Dr Lecter. The sequel, "Silence of the Lambs," stars Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. Directed by Jonathan Demme, 'Silence' got the Academy Awards' Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) trophies in 1991.

The first two episodes of Hannibal Season 2 are called "Kaiseki" and "Nikujaga," respectively. Fans are hoping Graham won't have to be locked up for so long. The chase is always better done outdoors, after all.
