Who replaced Demi Lovato as the X Factor judge cancelled July Fourth performance in Philadelphia? Complaining of strep sore throat, Demi has begged off to appear at the Philadelphia Fourth of July Jam 2013, said Desiree Petekerin-Bell, the city spokeswoman.

The city official expressed regret having Demi on stage for the country’s Independence Day celebration this year. The Latina singer took to Twitter and informed her 15.1 million followers that she will not be able to make it at the annual event due to illness.

Demi tweeted on July 2: "Chills + fever + gross looking tonsils... = no bueno... Mooooommmmmm????!!!!!", a prelude of what was to come in a couple of days, adding, "Sucks being so sick when you're alone and away from home. someone... come hold meeeeee... And bring me soup!!!"

This was followed by another tweet sharing her pain: “I can't sleep cause my throat hurts!!!"

This forced Demi to advise the Philadelphia organisers that she will definitely not make it to the concert.

Replacing Demi, added Bell, is Hunter Hayes, who was generous to give his time at such a short notice.

"We are very excited to have Hunter Hayes join us for the Philly 4th of July Jam tomorrow ... Hayes is one of the biggest stars in country music right now and we know that he will be a great addition to the stellar lineup we already have in place!" Philadelphia city representative and executive director of Welcome America, Inc., Desiree Peterkin- Bell was quoted as saying by 6abc.com

Hayes was to join other Hollywood artists, including Katy Perry’s beau, John Meyer, Ne-Yo, and Jill Scott. Other performers included J.Cole, Grace Potter, Ben Taylor and hometown hosts, The Roots, added AceShowbiz.

"This is America's home. Where best to celebrate the Fourth of July?" Desiree Peterkin-Bell said.
