Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe plays father in The Woman in Black
Do you know how much Daniel Radcliffe had grown since he starred os Harry Potter in the franchise? From portraying the 11-year old Potter in Philosopher's Stone, Daniel is now playing a father in his next feature film. Not that we haven't seen him in a different role, after all he made a great buzz appearing in the adult play Equus. But even in that play, his character was an adolescent.
Then again, in the Harry Potter finale, Radcliffe will be seen playing Harry Potter decades older, and with broods of his own with Ginny. Radcliffe tells Total Film that The Woman in Black is busy looking for the actor to play his son in the movie.
"We were doing auditions for my son yesterday which was bizarre," the Harry Potter star said.
In the thriller film, the 20-year old Radcliffe stars as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who discovers the secrets of an old haunted house.
"[The Woman in Black is] very exciting and James Watkins is fantastic, " Radcliffe said. "He might kill me for telling you this, but he's actually started working with an acting coach to give him a better idea of how to approach stuff with actors.
""Which is a brilliant thing - I don't know of any other directors doing that. He's inspired and we're uncannily on the same page about the film. We met and we agreed that this film is not a scary movie but a film about loss and family and grief."
The Woman in Black is written by Jane Goldman based on a ghost story by Susan Hill. It will be directed James Watkins. The story had been previously given a television treatment in the United Kingdom.
