Liberal MP Daryl Maguire was crowded by a large group of exasperated solar power users in a protest over alterations to the Solar Bonus Scheme.

That the scheme set up by the former Labor government is too expensive to be continued is the main explanation of government MP's as they try to hose down the anger of the said users.

Starting July, a cut of 20 cents per kilowatt hour in the payment given to people feeding solar electricity into the grid will be enforced by the government.

In the yesterday’s rally, some people have sworn not to vote Liberal in New South Wales again.

Maguire faced the group of around 80 protesters, before meeting with a few of them inside his office.

New South Wales Energy Minister Chris Hartcher said while he feels for those affected, the 60 cent tariff began to be looped back more than six months ago.

"This is a decision that's not made lightly. It's made with a great deal of regret but they will still get 40 cents that's from the 1st of July,” Hatcher explained.

Hartcher added the program cost has blown out by $759 million since it started last year.

"And it was estimated then to cost $355 million and it was going to be partly funded by the climate change fund. Since then the scheme has blown out to one point nine billion dollars, which is of course a huge blowout and the climate change fund can't absorb the cost," Hatcher furthered.
