Hectic Life Reduces the Urge of Sexual Intercourse, Say Sex Therapists
Having a hectic schedule and a busy lifestyle reduces the desire of having sexual intercourse or love making, sex therapists said. It is known to increase the stress levels in the body and gives rise to various health issues. Shirley Zussman, a 100-year-old sex therapist in New York City, said that the desire to have "casual sex or hook up" reduces drastically when you are leading a hectic life.
Speaking about how our hectic life put love making and sexual intercourse at the end of our priority list, Zusman said, "The use of time is very different in our society today. People are busy all the time. That was not true when I was growing up. There is a limit to how much energy and desire and time you can give to one person when there is all this pressure to make more money, to be the CEO, to buy a summer house, people want more and more and more. Desire requires a certain amount of energy." Citing example of one of her clients, Zussman added, "The most common problem I see is a lack of desire or a lack of interest. I have a patient who told me that 'I love my husband. I love making love to him, but when I come home from work, I was with people the whole day and I just want to crash."
A study of 3,000 couples in UK revealed some shocking results. Long working hours accompanied by a hectic social life is causing many couple to 'put off' casual sex or love making. Researchers found that most British refused to have sex if it is past 10 pm or even 9 pm for many. They also discovered that one in two couples has split up due to their 'uninteresting' sex life.
Decrease in sexual urge due to busy schedule is a universal problem. Dr Mahesh Nawal, who is a counselor, practicing as a sex therapist in India for many years said that his online consultancy receives 40 to 50 queries every day, complaining about decrease in sexual urge and activity. According to Nawal, a diminishing libido can cause lot of problems in a man-woman relationship. "Men are more affected by this than women because the demands and expectations from them are very high. Constant pressure and a failure to perform can lead to frustration and depression. For some couples, separation seems to be the only way out," concluded Nawal.
