Despite the traumatic incident she experienced in the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna surprised the public by collaborating with him and now she finally she tells why.

In her seemingly thoughtless move to reconcile with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna justifies her actions and said it was a career move she had to take. The Barbados born singer admitted that working with Brown would be for practical reasons.

During her interview with Ryan Seacrest, Rihanna talked about her decision to record duets with the man who severely beat her up three years ago.

"I reached out to him about doing Birthday Cake because that's the only person that really, it made sense to do the record. Just as a musician - despite everything else - that was going to be the person," she said.

"I thought about rappers, and I've done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown," she added.

She wanted him back in her track but it is inevitable that the public and her fans also would assume that maybe she wants him back in her personal life too. On her Twitter account, it appeared as though she may be dropping hints of their reconciliation despite the fact that Brown has a girlfriend. A bit of an irony from the 2009 statement she made about domestic violence.

"My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that," she said back three years ago.

"I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn't heard. Now I can help speak for those women."
