High School Violist and Shot Putter Gets '8 Yesses' from All 8 Ivy League Schools
Getting into one (1) Ivy League school is already a tough endeavor for most high school students getting into college. But for Kwasi Enin, the odds went all in his favor as he got accepted to all eight (8) Ivy League schools. Now the New York senior of Long Island just needs to make the tough decision as to which school he will be attending in September.
The 17-year-old violist from William Floyd High School broke record as Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania and Yale took it on a roll on March 27, giving him the "yesses" that every senior desire. Newsday reported that Enin had no such imagination that he would actually land at eight schools, but he did. Princeton was the first school to accept him in December 2013.
"I was like - this can't be happening," Enin told Newsday as the "yeses kept coming."
Of all the eight schools that accepted Enin, Harvard was the least expected. The 17-year-old senior thought that it was the one that has to "reject" him, but didn't.
According to the report, Enin has an SAT score of 2,250 out of 2,400. His academics put him on top, but he is not just brainy. Enin is also an athlete, marking the field as a shot putter.
Aside from the eight Ivy League schools, Enin was also reported to have gotten his acceptance to Duke, Stony Brook, SUNY Geneseo and Binghamton University. William Floyd High School is surely proud, along with Enin's father Ebenezer Enin who considers his son as an "amazing and humble kid."
According to The Journal News at lohud.com, Enin's family moved to New York from Ghana in the 1980s. Enin is now thinking of taking medicine in college. As to which school, however, it is yet to be decided.
