Hilary Duff and NHL Husband Mike Comrie Split
Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie have split after being married for three years. Hilary and Mike announced their separation on Friday.
"Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation," Hilary's representative told E! News. "They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives," the rep said. "They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time," the rep added.
A day after they announced their separation, Hilary tweeted her appreciation to the people who have been wishing them well following the not-so-good news. She thanked everyone for the compassion and kindness that they have been giving as well as the many well-wishes for the former couple. "Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together," she tweeted.
Hilary started dating the Canadian retired professional hockey player in the summer of 2007. The two got engaged three years later, in Feb 2010. Six months after they announced their engagement, the two wed in a marriage ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. They have one son, Luca Cruz Comrie, who is turning two on March 20.
TMZ got hold of Hilary's mom, Susan, who stated that the former couple will co-parent their son Luca. Susan told TMZ that as much as she loves the former National Hockey League (NHL) player, she thinks that separation would be best for them. "They're better friends than a married couple," said Susan.
It seems like short marriages are becoming a trend these days. Short and failed marriages are a miserable circumstance in life. However, they can impart us some valuable lessons too, like how we can get the best from our relationships.
As long as Hilary and Mike are in good terms and they are both there for Luca, then everything will be fine. Hilary can focus on her acting and singing career. Mike on the other hand, can probably get back to his hockey career. One more thing, they only announced that they are separating. Separation can lead to divorce, but sometimes, it doesn't. Whether Hilary and Mike's separation leads to divorce or reconciliation, we only wish both of them the best.
