'Hobbit 3' New Poster – The Elves Finally Join The Battle
Thranduil and his army of elves may finally join the battle in "Hobbit 3." A poster released by the producers of the movie shows all the important characters from the film. The movie is slated to be released on Dec. 26, 2014 in Australia.
Thranduil is seen riding his moose and its big white horns. He seems to be facing an army riding on rams. His joining the battle marks a departure from the previous movies, where he chose not to interfere in the affairs of the world. Click here to see the image.
Thranduil is the king of the Woodland Elves and is hated by Thorin, who sees the king's lack of support of the dwarves in battle as a betrayal. Legolas is the son of Thranduil and features in both the "Hobbit" trilogy as well as "The Lord of the Rings" movies.
In an interview with Collider Orlando Bloom, the actor who plays the character of Legolas, spoke about Thranduil's strong character and his unwavering vision for his people. The actor also spoke about the Prince vs. the King dynamic that will feature in the movie. Will Legolas convince his father to fight and try to save the realm in "Hobbit 3"?
Thorin and some of the dwarves are also seen in the poster wielding swords and battling armoured orcs. The pale orc Azog the Defiler is seen standing tall in the background. Azog has vowed to end the line of the kings of the Lonely Mountain by killing Thorin. Thorin in turn wants the pale orc to pay for his crimes. Sauron had sent an orc legion to attack the Lonely Mountain in secret in the previous movie. Who will survive in the epic ending of "Hobbit 3"?
Smaug the dragon is seen unleashing his fiery wrath on the people of Lake-town. A lone warrior is seen facing the mighty dragon with a spear. Will Brad the Bowman finally succeed where those before him have failed?
The other characters from "Hobbit 3" seen in the poster are Gandalf, Galadriel, Elrond, Saruman, Tauriel and Bilbo Baggins. The trailer of the movie shows Bilbo recounting the horrors of war and promising to remember the good, the bad, those who survived and those who did not.
