Hobbit 3 Poster Shows Thorin On The Throne And More
A new poster from the movie "Hobbit 3" shows Thorin in full armour sitting on his grandfather's throne. The poster also shows the dragon Smaug and other characters like Gandalf and Galadriel. It gives a glimpse of what to expect in the final movie from the trilogy.
Thorin was able to drive out the dragon Smaug in the previous movie. The new poster released to EntertainmentWeekly by the producers shows the character becoming the king of the Lonely Mountain and taking control of its vast treasures.
According to the official synopsis of the movie, Thorin will choose to hoard the treasure and forget friendship and honour. The situation will lead them to make a choice that will eventually lead to war. Readers who have seen the previous "Hobbit" movie will remember that Sauron has sent forth a legion of Orcs under the command of Azog.
Readers can see that the throne is damaged after Smaug's attack. The throne is missing the Arkenstone, a jewel found in the heart of the mountain that Thorin's grandfather saw as a divine sign for him to rule.
One of the few people in Middle-earth who knows about Sauron's plan is Gandalf. The character is also seen in the poster. He is wounded and in need of help. Galadriel is seen reaching for Gandalf while Elrond and Saruman are in the background. The scene seems to show Dol Guldur, Sauron's seat of power where his army was in hiding.
The dragon Smaug is shown setting fire in Lake-town. The dragon was unhurt by the molten gold in the previous "Hobbit" movie. The villagers of Lake-town had also tried to kill the dragon when it first attacked. But the dragon's skin proved to be too strong for the weapons used by the town people. Will the dragon finally be slain in the upcoming movie?
Bilbo Baggins is also seen in the poster. The character will make the best efforts to dissuade Thorin from taking steps that could not only harm his fellow dwarves but also endanger the entire Middle-earth in "Hobbit 3."
"Hobbit 3" is slated to be released on Dec. 26 in Australia, Dec. 11 in New Zealand, Dec. 12 in the U.K., Dec. 17 in Canada and the U.S. of this year. The plot of the movie was set 60 years before the events in the "Lord of The Rings" movies.
