‘The Hobbit’ Stars Benedict Cumberbatch And Luke Evans Answer Fan Questions On Twitter
“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” promotional campaign is in full swing, and the film has enlisted two of its stars to reach out to fans. Benedict Cumberbatch and Luke Evans have taken it to Twitter to answer fans’ questions, which range from silly and hypothetical to insane and irrelevant.
The hilarious Q&A sessions took place on Wednesday morning, New Zealand time, with Cumberbatch the first one to go.

The “Sherlock” star technically doesn’t appear in the Peter Jackson epic fantasy film, but is the voice of the titular dragon Smaug. If Martin Freeman frequently appeared in his answers, it’s because Freeman, who plays Bilbo Baggins in “The Hobbit” trilogy, is also Cumberbatch’s co-star in “Sherlock.” Here are the best bits of session: On eating a cupcake in his likeness:

On Freeman:
Smart. Original. Mod. RT @_LauraHolmes_: #AskSmaug How would you describe Martin Freeman in 3 words? — The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
RT @JenCappelli: @TheHobbitMovie #AskSmaug Who would win in a sass-off? Smaug or Martin? ....can dragons give the middle claw?
— The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
Martin, obviously. Smaug gets pretty clumsy in a rage until he flies. Then, I suppose he might have time to give the birdy. — The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
Answering what-if questions:
My grandfathers. I never met either. RT @b_smoraes: Is there a person (alive or dead) you would like to spend a day with? who? #AskSmaug

.@maybeginger You're very kind. Flying would be nice. Piano and French are more realistic though. — The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
RT @rosiescot: #AskSmaug If you lived in Middle Earth, would you like to be a Hobbit, Elf, Wizard (yes, staff, beard, & all) or a Dwarf? X

I'm quite happy being a dragon, thanks. Oh, and the Necromancer - a disembodied spirit of evil. Less time in the make-up chair! — The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
.@fondueatspeedys Fly. Fly. Fly.
— The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
And maybe fart fire while flying. To fly faster. — The Hobbit (@TheHobbitMovie) December 3, 2013
After an hour, it was Evans’ time to answer questions from fans. Evans plays Bard the Bowman in the trilogy.

Evans seemed to be a lot more serious, though no less witty, in answering the fans’ questions, but that’s also probably because his fans asked a lot more serious questions.
