Tough girl Pink embraces her softer side this Christmas season, extending some love to someone who needs it badly - an injured pup named Stella.

TMZ reports the "So What" singer was spurred into action after she came across the news of dog, who was thrown off the Los Angeles overpass. Stella landed in the L.A. River, breaking three legs in the process.

Pink, 32, contacted the animal rescue organization, Ace of Hearts, immediately. Her efforts came in the nick of time - the puppy was in dire need of emergency surgery by then.

All the necessary veterinary expenses covered by the "Happy Feet 2" star, a bill that reports say amounted to around $5,000.

Thanks to the pop diva, Stella recovered nicely from her ordeal. The pup even got adopted by a loving family just before the holidays.

It's not the first time the vegetarian singer has displayed her animal advocacies - she has a long history doing so.

The tough chick is not afraid to get her hands dirty, or to criticize pretty powerful people to ensure no animals are being abused.

She once refused to perform at Prince William's 21st birthday party, on the grounds of the prince's hunting activities.

"I wrote back saying I wouldn't (perform) until he explained why he went hunting," Pink explains to Teen Music five years after the invitation.

The hit-maker also questioned Queen Elizabeth II about the bearskin hats of the Buckingham Palace guards, pointing out that it could be replaced with synthetic material.

"I don't get that we can't question people just because of their position in society. I support PETA; I want to make people think about their responsibilities," Pink explains with her usual bluntness and candor.

"I don't care if they have a crown," she adds.

If Pink is not afraid to speak out against the royals, she's certainly not hesitating to go against teen princesses.

Early this year, Pink took to Twitter to criticize Selena Gomez for using lavender-painted horses in her music video.

"If there are any animal activists around Malibu - at Leo Cabrillo State Beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video. Shame," Pink tweets, attracting a flurry of angry reactions from the Disney darling's fans.
