Hollywood Actress, Anne Hathaway, on a '500 Calorie a Day Diet'?
Is Anne Hathaway engaging in some real-life hunger games? The Hollywood actress is reportedly on a drastic diet to lose weight for a film role by limiting herself to just 500 calories a day.
The 29-year-old actress has apparently had to slash her daily food intake in a bid to drop two dress sizes in time for her death scenes in the movie adaptation of "Les Miserables."
"The Devil Wears Prada" star portrays the character Fantine, a single mother and prostitute in the new film, is said to be surviving on just two apples a day and a protein shake.
According to "Britain's Daily Mail", the bright-eyed brunette has reportedly put herself on a crash diet in order to drop 16 pounds in less than three weeks.
"Anne is playing a destitute factory worker-come-lady of the night," a source said.
"Unfortunately, she only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible up to a stone-and-a-half or 21lbs because she's been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby. It's not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints," the source further shared.
However, Hathaway's representative calls the "Britain's Daily Mail" story which has Hathaway living on apples and protein shakes a huge exaggeration. "She is losing weight for the part, but not that much," Hathaway's representative confirms on E!News.
"Just enough for her to look more frail, as she is playing a dying prostitute. She is consuming more than 500 calories. The tabloids are making something of nothing, as usual," the representative further shared.
Meanwhile, the insider insists that producers of the "Les Miserables" movie, which also stars Australian actors Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, will be keeping a close eye on Anne's health.
"Anne knows the risk of such an extreme diet and will undergo weekly medicals to make sure everything is still functioning as it should do," the source said.
"Les Misérables", the latest adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic, hits theaters on December 14.
