Back to the Bay reports that on Wednesday, Billie begins to have second thoughts about marrying VJ. Fans wonder whether she feels guilty for lying to VJ and still making everyone believe he’s the father of her baby. Hunter, on the other hand, becomes the prime suspect of starting the fire at the Caravan Park. He seems to be experiencing a string of bad luck lately, after struggling with his exams, failing to become a lifeguard, having an alteration with John and breaking up with Olivia.
Seven Network posted a sneak peek of the upcoming episode on its official website. In the trailer, John rants to Zac and Leah about Hunter when they suddenly spot the fire at the Caravan Park. The two men immediately put the flame out, but Hunter is nowhere to be seen.
“Home and Away” recap
In the previous episode, Zac arrived looking bothered. Leah wondered if he’s all right, and he lied, saying he’s just feeling anxious about the book deal and tired. The next day, Leah noticed that Zac’s still acting weirdly. She assumed it might be because of her earlier bout of jealousy of Sam, and she assured him that she’s not jealous anymore. Speaking of Sam, she suddenly appeared at their house and asked to speak to Zac alone. Sam apologised for trying to seduce him the other night and Zac made it clear that he’s not giving her any motive to think it’s okay to cheat on Leah. Zac also reiterated that his relationship with Sam would remain on a professional basis – nothing more.
While Sam said she’s perfectly okay with that, she then delivered the bad news: the publisher’s not going for Zac’s book. He believed it’s not a coincidence that the book deal fell through after he rejected her. Leah overheard this bit and confronted the two. Once alone with Leah, Zac explained what happened and insisted that he had no idea it would lead to that. He also said he did nothing wrong and Leah believed him. She also agreed with Zac that Sam took his rejection personally. Leah volunteered to read it while Zac sought to call Sam’s boss to find out what they really think of his book. He’s devastated to find out that Sam’s telling the truth – his material wasn’t good enough – and even Leah seemed to think that way, too. Zac wanted to shelve his book idea, but Leah encouraged him not to give up on his dreams.
Hunter was cramming for the Bronze Medallion test, which came right after his HSC exams. Feeling the pressure, Hunter gave John quite an attitude. John felt disappointed with Hunter, and told the young man to try again next year. Later, when Olivia checked in on him, Hunter revealed that he failed the lifeguard exam. While Olivia tried to offer her support, Hunter vented his frustrations on her and told her to get out of his face. Hunter became rude to Marilyn, which Zac overheard. The two talked about what’s going on, and Zac advised him to follow his own path, not Olivia’s. Meanwhile, Olivia opened up to Irene, who advised her to let go and move on.
Later, Olivia and Hunter talked about what’s happening between them and they decided to take a break even though they still love each other. That night, John and Hunter apologised to each other. However, things got ugly when John insisted that Hunter pay for the radio he smashed earlier. Once alone, Hunter continued grieving over his failed relationship with Olivia, burning their photos and his other stuff. He’s unaware, however, that there’s a gas tank precariously located near the fire.
