‘Home and Away’ Viewers’ Grief Over Casey’s Death [VIDEO]
“Home and Away” sent their viewers into whimpering mess when it aired the death of a beloved character on Monday night. Casey Braxton, played by Lincoln Younes, met his untimely demise after being shot by Jake Pirovic (Fletcher Humphrys) in a dramatic scene.
Jake was aiming to shoot Darryl “Brax” Braxton (Steve Peacocke), but the bullet instead hit Casey, who was trying to save his kidnapped half-brother Josh Barrett (Jackson Gallagher).
Younes first entered the Channel Seven soap opera as Lincoln in February 2011. Lincoln had been part of The River Boys, a new trip of male characters who have been received positively by the viewers.
The young actor’s exit from the show is hardly surprising as it had been reported as early as June. He has also joined the second series of the Nine show “Love Child.”
“I had the most amazing time. In terms of storytelling, I have been very, very fortunate,” Younes, 22, said in his goodbye video, sharing the highlights of his time in the show.
“Shooting that was very special,” he said of his death scene. “I have loved every second of the show.”
He continued, “When we actually got to the scene of Casey getting shot and dying in Brax’s arms, it’s a very real experience and horrifically sad. When we finished the take, all the cast and crew and everyone there were in tears. You look around you, and the people that you’ve worked with for so long, you’d see how much they do invest in it. It’s really morbid, but really wonderful thing to experience.”
He also praised Peacocke, saying that he is like his big brother in real life.
“I never want to die on screen again,” Younes laughed, “because it’s not fun, obviously. But for purposes of good storytelling, it’s worth it.”
Viewers of the show turned to social media to express their sadness over the beloved character’s exit.
