Home-made Bomb Thrown by Bullies Rips Hands of Autistic Aussie Teen
A 15-year-old autistic Australian male lost both his hands over the weekend after a homemade bomb was lobbed at him at a backyard west of Brisbane by a group of young people playing behind a house in Dampier Street in Leichardt. Another report said the improvised devise was given to him which immediately exploded in his hands.
The device, the size of a golf ball, ripped the hands of the teenager, identified as Michael Boggan, who was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with injuries to his hands and chest. After an overnight surgery, he is now in a stable condition.
The other young people who also suffered minor injuries from the bomb blast, were brought to the Ipswich Hospital.
A resident who was nearby the scene of the accident, described the noise create by the bomb as massive explosion similar to fireworks. Then he heard horrendous screaming while the young bloodied people were running out of the backyard.
The explosive device, aside from injuring Michael, destroyed an outdoor furniture set, including a glass table.
The mother of the 15-year-old victim said the other young people were not her son's friends, and it appears he tried to make friends with them but he was bullied, which included the bomb attack.
