‘Homefront: The Revolution’ Xbox One closed beta, new co-op mode, microtransactions and DLC details revealed
A lot of new details have emerged for “Homefront: The Revolution.” The release date for its beta run on the Xbox One has already been confirmed to happen from Feb. 11 to 14.
This is not the only exclusive run that “Homefront: The Revolution” will be doing for the Xbox One. There is a reported Xbox One stress test running from Jan. 29 to Feb. 5, as per IGN. Apart from the opportunity to sample the game, players may be interested to know what’s set to come with the game.
Developer Dambuster Studios has confirmed that preorder bonus will come in the form of the Revolutionary Spirit, where players can access unique skins and unlocks for some weapons in the single-player component. For the co-op mode for “Homefront: The Revolution,” the developer has introduced the Resistance Mode, which basically showcases a four-player co-op experience online.
In this mode, players will have to face-off against KPA members in Philadelphia. Freedom Fighters are customisable, as they players can unlock skills and get equipment and battle gears.
As far as post-launch content is concerned, fans can still expect a lot of support for the game from the developer for an entire year. Dambuster Studios has already confirmed that it will roll out a year’s worth of free content, at the very least, GameSpot reported.
This is great news, on top of the assured no paywall for content. What this essentially means for players is that, despite the microtransactions allowed to buy crates with loot, freemium players who are used to grinding for goods in games will not have to worry about being run off by those who play premium.
According to Game Designer Fasahat Salim, the microtransactions will be solely for shortcuts for premium players to unlock some items. All players will still get access to the content in “Homefront: The Revolution.”
“They pay a little bit of money but they’re not getting anything that’s exclusive to them,” said Salim to GameSpot. This will also be the mechanic for post-launch content, which basically follows the same thing that “Street Fighter V” developer is rolling out—letting players earn items either via premium currency or grinding through gameplay.
“Homefront: The Revolution” will be launched on May 17 first in North American then May 20 for everywhere else. It is coming to several platforms, including the PS4, the Xbox One and PC/Linux/Mac.
