'Homeland,' 'Friends' creators bring in Natalie Portman to star in new HBO miniseries
The new HBO series is based on the book "We are All Completely Beside Ourselves" by Karen Fowler
Hollywood superstar Natalie Portman will be appearing on a TV series for the first time ever.
After showcasing her versatility numerous times in Hollywood; whether as a bipolar ballet dancer in Black Swan, as the supreme Queen Amidala in Star Wars, and in a lot more films that led to her being one of the most sought after actresses in Hollywood, Natalie Portman is yet to show her prowess on television. With her stunning good looks and exceptional talent, her upcoming series is something fans and critics look forward to.
The Academy Award-winning actress is already set not only to star, but also to be the executive producer of “We are All Completely Beside Ourselves,” which is currently undergoing development, says a report by Entertainment Weekly.
Portman will appear on the series as Rosemary Cooke, a college student who had a peculiar childhood. This involved having her twin mysteriously disappearing when they were just five years old.
The series is based on a 2014 novel by Karen Fowler. It resonates around the main character’s grief over the death of her supposed twin sister, which is then revealed piece by piece through cryptic messages in a postcard. When she hits young adulthood, she begins to have identity problems and starts to ask who or what she is.
Her identity dysmorphia has led to her to behave quite differently while attending college. For example, when most girls would exchange horror stories, she would find herself sitting in still silence in one corner. The journey for her continues as she explores how she was raised and how she became such, as well as conquer present challenges she has to deal with for being a little different.
Portman will be teaming up with “Friends” creator Marta Kauffman and her production company Okay Goodnight. A report by Times of Israel also says that Gideon Raff, who is also an Israeli and is the producer of the hit TV series “Homeland,” will be joining them as executive producer. Christopher Monger of Temple Grandin will be writing for the TV series.
Okay Goodnight is also producing “Emmis,” an adaptation of the Israeli drama “Shitsel” from 2013, which strongly features the heavily traditional Jewish community. The official air date for “We are All Completely Beside Ourselves” on HBO is yet to be announced.
