Before we go to the spoilers/questions and possible answers, we’d have to brief you on the nuances of sports entertainment betting— what does the numbers mean and how does that translate to your wager winnings.

Simple formula is: X (Amount of Bet) times Betting Odds = Payout

We’ll assume you are a prisoner of war from Iraq who just got back in the country and to help you understand some of these betting jargons, we’ll provide you some examples.

Let’s say you want to bet $100 on betting odds of 2.5. Using the formula ($100 x 2.5) will give you a payout of $250 if you correctly predicted the answer. This means that your $100 wager just earned you $150!

The answer to the first question is so blatantly obvious, unashamedly clear that it needs neither an introduction nor an explanation. We’ll analyze each option anyway—from the least likely to the most probable reality, from the underdogs to the favorites.

Homeland Character and Betting Lines (All odds lifted from sportsbet.com.au)

Who is the Father of Carrie’s Baby?

David Estes (101.0) - $100 pays $10,010
Estes (David Harewood) is dead since the last episode of Season 2, killed by Abu Nazir’s bombing of CIA’s main office. But that’s not stopping him from having the best odds among the probable fathers who may or may not have banged Ms. Mathison. We saw the tension between David and Estes in the first two seasons, and it implied many times that the relationship was more than just a boss-employee affair.

Mike Faber (81.0) - $100 pays $810
Mike Faber (Diego Klattenhoff) was Brody’s best friend before the latter turned on his country and before the former started sleeping with his best friend’s wife. The only thing going for Mike is that he and Brody have the same taste in women, so there’s a slim chance that he may have thing for Carrie.

Virgil (51.0) - $100 pays $510
Virgil (David Marciano) is a surveillance expert and a former CIA employee. With his lean towards doing something way illegal, it is possible that he and Carrie did make out in the many surveillance activities during the first two and a half seasons of "Homeland".

Saul Berenson (41.0) - $100 pays $4,100
Is it possible that Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) did more than mentoring to Carrie? What’s stopping us from thinking that the Saul is a dirty old man since he has manipulated Carrie since Season 1? What’s stopping us from thinking that because Saul is so depressed, dejected and down with his non-promotion to CIA chief that he ordered Carrie to a very personal mission?

Peter Quinn (13.0) - $100 pays $1,300
We like Quinn’s (Rupert Friend) chances and value here. He’s the quiet but effective character in the show—both in developing that individual and the plot of "Homeland". A silent assassin who not only killed a lot of people in the show but also slew the biggest of them all in Carrie? What we do know is that Quinn has shown real sympathy concern for Carrie in some episodes when the latter is sent to dangerous missions…

Convenience Store Guy (6.0) - $100 pays $600
Like Quinn, there’s real value picking up in the Convenience Store Guy. Just ask Carrie. In Tin Man is Down, the very first episode of Season 3, Carrie did pick up a Brody look-alike at a grocery store and well they did more than buy goods at the supermarket. It is important to note at this point of the series, Carrie was off her meds.

And finally…

Nicholas Brody (1.05) - $100 pays $105
There is really no betting value in picking Brody (Damian Lewis) with this line. A $100 bet means you’ll earn only $5. However, all signs points to him being the father. After all, Carrie is madly, crazily in-love with him. It's pretty much self-explanatory as these intense images between the CIA agent and the probable terrorist wil show:

Picking Brody could be the right decision in the end. But after the endless twists and turns in the show, do you really trust the writers of "Homeland"? Brody might be the safe pick, but we think Quinn will go for the win.
