Homeland Season 4 Spoilers: Brody May Return in Flashbacks, Possibility of Carrie, Quinn’s Romance
"Homeland" is scheduled to return in October, with Season 4. The new season is sending Carrie to a foreign location as a case officer, with new responsibilities. The Season 3 ended with the shocking death of Brody in Iran. Alex Gansa, showrunner of "Homeland," has not ruled out the possibility of Nicholas Brody returning in the new season -- though not in the flesh but in flashbacks.
Speaking about the possibility of Brody returning in flashbacks, Gansa said to Entertainment Weekly, "I would always hold out the possibility that something like that could happen. He was such as significant part of Carrie's life that just to drop him completely would feel wrong, because Carrie is grieving for his loss."
In the new season, Gansa said that Carrie is "quite stable" when it comes to handling her "mental illness." However, he indicated that she is finding it difficult to manage her "grief about her loss of Brody." Gansa also confirmed that Carrie is giving birth to her and Brody's child. He, however, did not reveal where the baby is growing-up.
Gansa revealed that they are thinking about pairing-up Carrie and Quinn in Season 4. "Everybody is clamouring for a relationship between [Quinn and Carrie]," Gansa said to Entertainment Weekly, adding that "it's certainly something we're toying with."
Gansa is not sure whether Carrie is open to taking a step towards new romance. The obstacle here is Carrie's emotional state. He said, "the question is whether Carrie is in any kind of emotional state to be open to a romance of any kind and does Quinn realise that's the case."
The showrunner revealed that Quinn will be seen watching over Carrie in the upcoming season, as he "cares about her so much."
The new season of "Homeland" picks-up six months after Season 3 finale. For the first time, Carrie will be assigned a job that she has been trained to do, according to Gansa.
Meanwhile, Saul will be returning to play a key role in Season 4. Gansa revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Saul will be seen overseas and as a private contractor, he will be working under Carrie, now.
