The new season of "Homeland" will see the introduction of a number of new characters, as Carrie will be shifting to Pakistan-Afghanistan region as a field operative.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) has reported that Mark Moses, Nimrat Kaur and Art Malik are joining the cast of "Homeland" Season 4. According to the report, Moses of "Mad Men" fame will feature in a number of episodes as Dennis, a "debauched expat." THR describes Dennis's character as an academician and will be seen "teaching political science at Islamabad's Quaid-I-Azam University."

Indian actress Kaur, who starred in the critically acclaimed Indian film "The Lunchbox," has bagged the role of a "high level operative" working inside Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's spy agency.

As previously reported, Saul is retuning in Season 4 to play a key role. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), Alex Gansa, show-runner of the show, said, "Saul plays a central role this season, albeit a different role, a reversed role. Saul in the past was Carrie's boss. Now that he's in the private sector he finds himself working underneath her and at her behest, so there's a role reversal that takes place there."

Malik's character, who is likely to star in only one episode, is portraying the role of Saul's old friend, a retired Pakistani general called Bunran "Bunny" Latif, according to THR.

As previously reported, Laila Robins is joining as a series regular. She is playing the role of Martha Boyd, the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan. Corey Stoll has a guest-starring role. He will be portraying the role of Sandy Bachman, the CIA chief of station in Pakistan. THR report calls Stoll's character "a rising star in the agency's firmament."

Suraj Sharma, "Life of Pi" star, also has been roped-in to play a Pakistani medical student in Season 4. Sharma's character is called Aayan Ibrahim and will be seen crossing paths with Carrie, according to EW's report. Sharma has a heavily recurring role.

"Homeland" Season 4 is currently under-production in Cape-Town, South Africa. It is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 5, 2014.
