Homer Simpson, the Simpson family patriarch is back for two more seasons. Fox has renewed the series for two more seasons and is already the longest running scripted series in television history.

TV’s favorite yellow family, The Simpsons, would be returning to for another two seasons. According to Digital Spy, the Simpsons are on their 25th season and have aired 625 episodes till now. To celebrate this extraordinary event, Fox, released the statement of Homer Simpson himself, which said, “I’ve outlasted Letterman, Jon Stewart and ‘McDreamy’, because I have something they don’t: a costly 200-donut-a day addiction.” (via CNN money)

According to Variety, it all started in 1989 when “The Simpsons” made their debut on TV. Since then it has won 31 Emmy’s, was nominated for an Oscar for theatrical short “The longest Daycare” and became the first animated show to win a Peabody Award. The Simpsons have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. The show has over 6 million viewers with higher than average ratings and has spawned countless merchandise, theme park rides and other shows. “The Simpson Movie” which came out in 2007, raked in AUD 1 billion at the box-office. The show as on now has moved breached the digital frontier and has created the video site called “The Simpson’s World,” which would stream every episode of the comedy. FXX bought the cable and online rights for the show and held the “Ever Simpson Ever,” marathon which broadcasted every episode over a 12-day period.

Simpson’s are in the middle of the 26th season and continues to go strong. Homer Simpson and his family, friends and enemies have become the part of pop culture with their voice over artists becoming stars overnight. New stars and characters would be joining the show in the coming season with twists in the story line. But the Simpson family has endured all television upheavals and retained a faithful following.
